Alumnus Grant Rousseau is Global Director of Esports and Director of Operations for Team Falcons who recently won ESL One Birmingham 2024 on Sunday 28 April.

This was Europe’s biggest Dota 2 esports event in six years with over 18,000 fans attending the event in-person on the last three days of the tournament. Team Falcon won the grand final with BetBoom Team with a 3-0 score.

Grant was incredibly pleased to have won and said on LinkedIn:

“This easily represents the proudest moment of my career so far. Not just because it’s the highest level of competition trophy I’ve ever won, but because my parents and mates were in the audience.”

Grant started his esports career eight years ago, having left his accountancy role at EY. His parents were very supportive of his career change.

Grant added:

“For them to be able to attend an event with me for the first time in 7 years, and to then win it all, was just the most incredible feeling. I can honestly say that whatever happens next in my esports career long term, I can one day retire happy knowing this day occurred.”

Grant graduated from º¬Ðß²ÝÊÓƵ with a masters in chemical engineering in 2016.

He  is incredibly proud of his team. With their win, Team Falcons took home a prize of $300,000 US dollars, 6400 EPT points and the ESL One trophy. They have also now secured their spot at Riyadh Masters at the Esports World Cup this summer.
