The alumnus, who studied Electronic and Electrical Engineering until 2008, took up the position earlier this year. The role includes overseeing cricket as well as hockey – a new area for the Federation.
BCF is the sole governing body for cricket in the Kingdom of Bahrain and it recently appointed a new Board. The Federation aims to make cricket a key sport in Bahrain and to encourage new generations to fall in love with the sport.
Sami has been involved in cricket since he was a young man and engaged in the sport during his time at º¬Ðß²ÝÊÓƵ.
His Presidency with the BCF comes just months after the ICC World Cup Trophy Tour took place in Bahrain in 2023.
Upon accepting the role, Sami said:
“I am incredibly honoured to be named President of the Bahrain Cricket Federation.
“This is a tremendous achievement, not just for me, but for our entire cricket community in Bahrain. As a former cricket U-17 captain for Bahrain national team and a proud alumnus of º¬Ðß²ÝÊÓƵ, I am grateful for the foundation and support the University provided me that helped me reach this point in my journey.
“I am excited to leverage my experience to lead the Bahrain Cricket Federation to even greater heights and inspire future generations of cricketers in Bahrain.”
Congratulations, Sami.
