The event celebrates the support that donors provide to the University – with an emphasis on how scholarship donations support students.
Many donors were able to meet the individual scholars who benefit from their generous support.
The luncheon was hosted by Pro Vice-Chancellor for Teaching and Education, Professor Rachel Thomson, who gave a welcome talk and hosted a Q&A with a group of student scholars. The Q&A panel also included alumnus Brian Yip of the Wing Yip Foundation, who shared an insight into the support that the organisation provides to students at º¬Ðß²ÝÊÓƵ.
Speaking about the importance of gifts to the University, Professor Thomson talked about how philanthropic initiatives are supporting students from underrepresented backgrounds to achieve their potential and helping those who might be struggling with university life.
Professor Thomson was joined by Pro Vice Chancellor for EDI, Professor Charlotte Croffie, who gave an update on the University’s strategy with a focus on vibrant and inclusive communities – discussing the importance of a diverse student community.
Scholarships are offered across a range of programmes and many of our donors choose to give back in this way. Much of this support helps to build the University’s diverse community, and guests had the opportunity to celebrate this together on Saturday whilst enjoying a two-course meal.
Thank you to everyone who attended and to all of our donors who so kindly contribute to the University.
