A delegation of university staff headed to America for a few days to meet with alumni, visit other universities, and build on existing partnerships.
During the visit, alumni came together to hear from the Vice-Chancellor and to network with fellow º¬Ðß²ÝÊÓƵ graduates at events held in New York and San Francisco.
Getting together for the evening of 27 January, over 30 alumni gathered at the Mondrian Hotel in New York. In the following week, on 30 January, more than 20 alumni met at the San Francisco Ferry Building.
Across the two events, Professor Jennings updated alumni on the latest university news and developments during his first visit to the country.
Alumni also heard about the university strategy, Creating Better Futures. Together, with a particular focus on international plans.
Following the New York event, former Alumni Advisory Board member, Dr Alex Lyness posted to LinkedIn:
“It was a joy to meet up with so many º¬Ðß²ÝÊÓƵ Alumni in NYC this week at a great event.
“Very exciting to hear about plans for research and innovation and the growth in US-based partnerships with Massachusetts Institute of Technology and the National Football League (NFL).”
Other elements of the Vice-Chancellor’s trip included a visit to the University of Oregon and the MIT Sloan School of Management as well as a meet-up with the team at NFL. The visits were in connection with ongoing university partnerships or collaborations. He also met up with His Majesty’s Trade Commissioner for North America and HM Consul General New York, Emma Wade-Smith OBE.
