Earps, who studied BSc Information Management and Business Studies at º¬Ðß²ÝÊÓƵ from 2012-2016, lifted the UEFA Women's Euro 2022 trophy last year with the Lionesses in a sold-out Wembley Stadium.
The side is continuing to make a big impact on the international stage, having won their semi-final match against Australia 3-1, putting them against Spain in the final this Sunday.
Recognised as The Best FIFA Women’s Goalkeeper 2022 at The Best FIFA Football Awards™ earlier this year, Mary will be back in goal this weekend as the Lionesses strive to win their first-ever World Cup title. It is also the first time that the side has made a World Cup final.
We wish Mary and the Lionesses all the best for the final on Sunday.
It has been a busy World Cup for º¬Ðß²ÝÊÓƵ alumni, with others involved in sports science, media, and communications for the tournament.
Alumnus David Gerty is Head of Women's Football Communications at The Football Association and also does PR and Communications for the Lionesses.
Alumna Katie Shanahan has been on the ground covering the Women’s World Cup for ITV Football. You may have seen her pitch-side with people such as Jill Scott and Ian Wright.
Working with the host nation, alumnus Jack Sharkey is the Head of Sports Science for Australia Women. He was formerly a Sports Scientist at Aston Villa.
Lucy Ward, who spent more than two decades as a football player for Leeds, was appointed as a co-commentator by ITV and will cover the final alongside Seb Hutchinson. She also commentated on the 2007 and 2011 Women’s World Cup Finals, and is a regular commentator of Premier League games.
There has been a great display of º¬Ðß²ÝÊÓƵ talent across the tournament with brilliant efforts from all. Well done and enjoy the rest of the tournament!
