Event organisers are appealing for students and graduate volunteers to help with registration, medal awarding and assisting the swimmers at the upcoming event which is taking place near to the University’s London campus.
Anyone who would like to gain valuable work experience in events and the running of sporting activities is encouraged to get involved. Each helper will receive a T-shirt and other gifts for volunteering their time. Anyone who is interested will need to submit an application to help at the event.
This will be the third year that the tournament has taken place in the pool that hosted the London 2012 Olympic and Paralympic Games. The event has been organised in association with their partner charities, the Swimathon Foundation, Level Water and Better.
Entrants will be competing in 1km, 5km and 10km races. There is also a 10km tag-team contest where small groups of swimmers will race against each other to win medals and, hopefully, achieve places in the Marathon Swims Hall of Fame.
Keen swimmers who are not able to enter the event on 12 November can test themselves by entering the Marathon Swims Virtual Challenge for free. Participants can sign up to complete their target distance in their own time between 1 and 30 November at any venue of their choice.
Further details of the contest and the virtual challenge can be found at the Marathon Swims web site.
