Alumnus Mike Tye (BSc Management Sciences 1976) and his peers began their time at º¬Ðß²ÝÊÓƵ 50 years ago. Almost to the day, they recently celebrated this milestone with a trip to campus, affording them the chance to reminisce, hear updates from academics, and meet current students.

Mike, who is a donor to Opportunity Scholarships, brought his group of eight friends together for the reunion. The group all began their studies in 1972, with seven studying business-related courses and one studying engineering.

Joining Mike Tye were Tim Christian, Malcolm Dunn, Rune Gustafson, Charlie Perry, Martin Ricketts, Phil Smith, Ellis Williams and Peter Woodward.

They enjoyed a tour of the º¬Ðß²ÝÊÓƵ campus, stopping off at the Students’ Union to meet current members of the Executive Committee and to check out the club venues, followed by a trip to LU Inc., the University’s business incubator, where they chatted with graduates.

The tour reached its conclusion at the Hazlerigg Building where the group met with an academic from the School of Business and Economics. They heard about how the School has changed over the last 50 years and how current students are getting on as they begin the new academic year. Two current Business Management students joined the group to talk about their º¬Ðß²ÝÊÓƵ experiences.

The reunion continued over a full weekend, with the group heading into the town to explore the changes that have happened over the last few decades.
