The first of the family to attend the University was Nihal Jinasena who graduated in 1962 with a degree in Mechanical Engineering. Nihal also received an Honorary degree in 2000.
Two of Nihal's siblings also studied at º¬Ðß²ÝÊÓƵ. Rohan Jinasena studied Production and Engineering Management, graduating in 1966, and Tissa Jinasena graduated in 1971 with a degree in Industrial Engineering Management.
The next generation of the family who attended º¬Ðß²ÝÊÓƵ were cousins Lalin and Roshni Jinasena. Alumna Roshni studied Management Sciences, graduating in 1993. Alumnus Lalin studied an undergraduate degree in Design and Manufacturing following by a master's in Management, he graduated in 2000 and 2001.
Roshni's stepdaughter Shenaya Fernando is currently studying Psychology at º¬Ðß²ÝÊÓƵ.
The Jinasena family are from Sri Lanka and own several businesses which make up the Jinasena Group, a leading industrial and trading conglomerate.
