Paul Wager
April 2020
LU Arts is sad to learn of the passing of Paul Wager. We're honoured that our campus is home to five of his large-scale steel sculptures, with the most recent - Trans - arriving just a couple of months ago. They're inspired by the heavy industries he lived around and worked in during his youth in the north-east of England.
Paul taught sculpture at º¬Ðß²ÝÊÓƵ College of Art and Design (now part of the School of Creative Arts) during the 1990s, and was an important member of the 'º¬Ðß²ÝÊÓƵ Group' of sculptors. He enjoyed a long and distinguished career as a sculptor, painter and teacher and we remember him as a generous man of good humour with a real love for º¬Ðß²ÝÊÓƵ. All of us at LU Arts send our thoughts to his family and friends.
