John Bassham

A tribute from a lifelong friend Peter Hale

John passed away on the 28^th April 2020

We were on the same BSc Course in Electrical & Electronic Engineering from 1968-1972 and were good friends for nearly 50 years after graduating.

John was a Student Apprentice with GEC Telecommunication, of which his degree course served as an integral part.  During a long and successful career with GEC John became Factory Manager of their Hartlepool site.   After the closure of the factory, John went on to work in the Care Sector for a number of years before retirement.

John had a very wide circle of friends and family and was a devoted husband, father and grandfather.

John was a “Diamond Geezer”- a real gentleman and a gentle man. 

He will be sorely missed by all who were privileged to know him.
