Iain Murdoch

Iain currently works at Shell as Trading and Supply - Global Project Engineer.
Previously, he was a Project Engineer at Abu Dhabi National Energy Company (TAQA). Prior to that he was an Electrical, Control and Instrumentation Engineer at BP.
Iain graduated with a MEng in Electronic and Electrical Engineering in 2002. He has spent the last 20 years of his career in the Energy sector, working with multi-cultural international teams to complete large scale projects in different challenging environments. He currently resides in the Netherlands.
Because his experience has been very culturally diverse and across many different regions, he understands the importance of team work and communication and he is keen on utilising those skills in supporting alumni and the Board as needed.
Iain believes that many of the changes happening worldwide require rapid responses, deep collaborations, and creative solutions. He strives to connect recent graduates with other alumni to provide guidance to the younger generation of graduates. He is also eager to explore the possibility of increasing the University’s profile and expanding international reach.
Iain started his 3-year term in September 2023.
